John K. Smarth is the founder and senior pastor of the Greater Love Pentecostal Church in Philadelphia and its three mission churches in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Although he continues to direct the affairs of his ministry, he is currently a Revenue Supervisor for the Philadelphia Parking Authority, Airport Division.
Before moving to the United States in 1998, He served as senior pastor in the Holy Church of Jerusalem International in Monrovia during the mid-1990s and as a news reporter, host, and producer of the program, ‘Focus on the Church’ at the Roman Catholic Radio Station, VERITAS, in Liberia. Pastor Smarth also served as associate editor at the Funtimes magazine in Philadelphia for three years.
Pastor Smarth holds an associate degree in communication studies from Delaware County Community College, a Bachelor’s in English from Eastern University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a Master of Art (MA) in professional writing, and a master’s in divinity (M.Div.): Biblical Studies, Church Leadership, and Ministry from Liberty University School of Divinity in Lynchburg, Virginia. He has four boys and lives with his wife Meseret in Philadelphia.
